Problem: There is demonstrated unequal access to medical care in developing countries and even in rural areas of more developed countries which leaves many people underserved due to poverty or geography. Simply put, there are not enough doctors in small towns. Lives are lost and there is needless suffering due to lack of access to high quality specialist care.
Solution: By linking specialist to generalist doctors and staff over the Internet, we make good healthcare available no matter where the patient lives, in other words use telemedicine to address unequal access to healthcare.
We have an extraordinary opportunity to work with a foundation established to support service to humanity in the form of healthcare and health education especially for the underserved. That is very much aligned with the top priorities of Rotary International and the mission of Global OffSite Care. We recognize the global issue of unequal access to health care which especially affects people who live away from urban centers. We see the tremendous potential for telemedicine to overcome geography and to bring healthcare to those who need it and avoid the burden of travel.

The project will connect the two wellness centers to SSSSMH so that specialists in Bengaluru are available to collaborate with the doctors at wellness centers which have one or two doctors. Their collaboration will allow more patients to be treated at the wellness center and avoid the considerable time trouble and expense of traveling to Bengaluru to be seen at the Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital. Projected to launch in 2023! The sooner we have funding the sooner we can start the project. 2 proposed Clinics are as below

Global Telemedicine is providing new telemedicine equipment options, some of which (e.g., handheld ultrasound probe) require more training than was needed before and a time commitment from the recipient. We are seeing impact of use of the ultrasound probe in Bahamas, Nepal, Tanzania and in Zimbabwe.
This project will bring together the main hospital with multiple wellness centers belonging to the same sponsor. In the past would have been more than one project. We are working in close coordination with all locations and with local Rotary clubs.
Project Financing: The total budget for the project is being worked out. Global Offsite Care has matching grant funds to match all Rotary Club contributions dollar for dollar up to $5,000. The Rotary Club of Bengaluru Junction has pledged to raise funds for this project. We are seeking $6,998 in club contributions to support this project and plan to put donations to work in September 2023.
